Full Day Coromandel Discovery Tour
Departs: Tuesday, Sunday and Public Holiday from Pier Three, Quay Street, Downtown, Auckland City at 9 am. and from Orapiu, Waiheke at 9:50 am.
Returns: At 4:00 pm from Hannafords Wharf, arriving in Auckland at 6:00 pm. and Orapui at 4:50 pm.
Leaving the city at 9am you can sit back and enjoy the leisurely 2 hour trip without a car in sight. Arriving at Hannaford’s Wharf you are met by a Strongman Coach for the 11km journey to Coromandel Town. On the way learn some of the regions history from one of the locals. You have one hour in Coromandel Town to try out the cafés or browse through the craft stores. Continue by coach to the incredible Driving Creek Mountain Railway, an engineering marvel, that winds through native bush including regenerating Kauri. Then stop at the Gold Stamper Battery, Coromandel’s oldest working gold Stamper, with the largest operating water wheel in the Southern Hemisphere. Enjoy a demonstration of traditional gold extraction techniques, before returning via Coromandel to Hannaford’s Wharf.
