Nimble Fox: All Day Walk

This is the walk for adventurous people who are reasonably fit and agile and wish to have a full day exploring the fascinating features of the glacier. Groups are kept small.

You approach the glacier using the same "secret" track that is used by the Half-day walkers. Outfitted with crampons, specially designed by Alpine Guides for Fox ice conditions, and travelling on ice steps freshly cut by your guide, you are able to journey on the glacier until confronted by the majestic pinnacles of the lower icefall where the glacier is moving up to two metres a day.

There is always something new to discover in the ever-changing world of ice on this uncrowded glacier. Relax over your lunch "glacier style", and you will have had a very memorable day out.

Good level of fitness and agility required.

6 – 7 hours

Every day except Christmas Day.
Extra departures may be scheduled in peak tourist times.

NZ$147.00 Adult, (GST incl.)
(Valid from 1 October 2009 to 30 September 2010) (Minimum 13 years, no child rate)

Cost includes:
Guide, ground transport, boots and socks, raincoat, alpenstocks, crampons, waterproof over-trousers.

Please bring:
As it can be cool on the ice, bring three to four layers of clothes for your upper body and any other clothes for your personal warmth. You will also need a lunch, drink, sunscreen, sunglasses and day pack. Camera recommended. Your own boots and raincoats may be suitable.

Reporting time:
9.30am year round. Extra trips 10.30am in summer.

Full Day Glacier Walk
Excellent option for the more adventurous with good fitness levels. Duration 6 - 7 hours. Walkers must take their own lunch. Departs 9.30 am
